Irina Stark holds
-MA in Human Sciences from Moscow Linguistic University
-MA in Cultural and Curatorial Studies from the University of Paris 1 Sorbonne
-Postgraduate degree in Geopolitics from French Institut of Geopolitics, Paris.
Irina Stark curates a wide range of art shows, working with fine art, installation, performance and photography, with a particular interest in artists who work in complex mixed media techniques at the crossroads of different styles of art.
Irina not only works in conventional ‘white cube’ galleries, but also designs exhibitions to fit alternative spaces producing site specific and off-site projects to reach wider audiences.
Apart from curating shows, she deals with related activities such as public relations, marketing, fundraising, developing education programmes, preparing budgets and building relationships with internal and external partners.
Depending on the size of the project Irina’s work includes:
- researching and cataloguing art works
- writing materials and articles for the website and publications
- negotiating the loan of art works
- arranging shipping and making sure art works are stored in the right conditions
- organising displays
- planning exhibition lectures and workshops
- answering press enquiries and giving talks to groups
- finding ways of attracting visitors to the gallery
- liaising with voluntary groups, the community (including schools and other community groups), as well as grant agencies, management boards and local councils to secure sponsorship for events, publications and development projects
- networking with other museum and art gallery professionals and outside agencies
